Kindergarten with strict acoustic requirements

The new Ullerud Barnehage kindergarten in Frogn, which opened in October 2008 with space for 100 children, represents a finely constructed building that fits in well with the surrounding landscape and offers fun outside play areas.

The building has large rooms with high ceilings. To meet new reverberation requirements in Norwegian kindergartens, Gyptone Tile Sixto 60 has been mounted on both the ceilings and the walls to help with sound absorption.

The result was that the reverberation time for a basic room in the kindergarten, came down to a level below 0,4 seconds.

"We considered mounting a new acoustic ceiling but the acoustics in the existing ceiling were actually close what we could gain from a new one."
