Acoustic regulation of campus

Alsion is a campus in the city of Sønderborg in Denmark that includes a university, a research park and a concert hall. It is located adjacent to a former railway yard, which runs by the waters of the Alssund.

The idea was to construct split-level rectangular buildings to make it possible to create offices, meeting rooms, auditoriums and classrooms, all separated by different atriums. 

Terraces and balconies

Gyptone Quattro BIG 42 BIG Special was used on the terraces and balconies to achieve optimal acoustics in the many hallways and large rooms. 

The staircases between the different floors are made out of steel, clad in moulded Gyproc plasterboards to create soft curves.

The balconies in the concert hall are clad in Gyproc plasterboards with specially milled grooves on the sides facing the stage to enable optimal acoustics.

The ceiling in the concert hall is fitted out with specially designed triangles made from concrete and clad in Gyproc plasterboards.
